A mystery ticket-holder from the London Borough of Lewisham has claimed a Lotto jackpot worth £5,844,340.

The claimant came forward nearly a month after the winning draw took place.

The ticket, bought for the Saturday, September 26 draw, matched all six main numbers in Round One to land the enormous prize.

The numbers drawn were 22, 27, 38, 42, 47 and 59, with 31 as the Bonus Ball.

The identity of the winner remains undisclosed.

It is not yet known whether the prize was claimed by an individual or a syndicate.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, said: “We’re delighted that the winner has now come forward to claim this incredible £5.8million Lotto jackpot prize.

“There is always huge excitement when a major prize remains unclaimed, but the best outcome is seeing the money reach the person who won it.”

He added: “Now begins the exciting part as they start to think about what’s next! We look forward to supporting the winner through the process and helping make dreams become a reality.”

Allwyn will now guide the claimant through the next stages, beginning with the formal validation of their winning ticket.

The validation process involves a series of checks to confirm compliance with the Games Rules and Terms and Conditions, safeguarding the integrity of The National Lottery.

Once this process is complete, the prize money will be handed over during a meeting with an Allwyn Winners’ Adviser.

Whether the public ever learns who scooped the jackpot is entirely up to the winner.

No details regarding the ticket-holder’s identity, whether they played alone or as part of a group, or the specific point of purchase will be disclosed unless the claimant opts to share their story publicly.

So far in 2026, Lotto has minted 148 millionaires.

In the past week alone, seven new millionaires were created, one for each day, among them a fortunate player who took home a £4.8million jackpot in the Wednesday October 21 draw.

Beyond individual winners, every National Lottery ticket sold contributes to a wider purpose.

Players collectively generate approximately £33M each week for National Lottery-funded projects, supporting hundreds of initiatives in every postcode area across the country.

Since its launch, The National Lottery has raised more than £53Billion for good causes across the UK.
