A “number of children” have been injured in a horror bus crash into a bridge that saw the roof of the vehicle torn off.

Emergency services sped to Spendmore Lane in Coppull, Lancashire, after the double-decker bus careered into a low bridge this afternoon.

Paramedics, police and firefighters were on the scene shortly after 12.30pm.

Police said Spendmore Lane will remain “closed for some time” from the junction of Lancaster Street to Regent Street while officers carry out investigations.
