A man has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Alisha Samuels, who was found dead after a fatal stabbing on a street in Greater Manchester.
Lawrence Johnson, 26, also faced charges of attempted murder of a man at the same address on Thursday, October 15.
Johnson, of Dorking Avenue, has been held in custody since his arrest and is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.
Greater Manchester Police said its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Samuels’ death remains active, with detectives continuing to pursue further lines of enquiry.
Officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Dorking Avenue in the early hours of October 15.
Ms Samuels was discovered at 2am, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Despite efforts by emergency services to save her, the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man was also attacked during the incident. However, police have not disclosed his identity.
Johnson, who lived on the same street where the stabbing took place, was subsequently arrested and remanded in custody.
He was formally charged on Tuesday evening with both murder and attempted murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said: “We are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances of Alisha’s tragic death and to provide Alisha’s family with some answers.
“We have now charged a man, but our investigation is not over.
“I urge others who may have information, no matter how small, to please come forward.”
He said anyone who witnessed the incident or has mobile phone, CCTV, or doorbell footage is encouraged to ring the force on 0161 856 5464 or submit information through the Major Incident Public Portal.
They added that reports can also be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
DCI Bryant also thanked members of the public who had already assisted the inquiry, noting that their contributions proved essential to the investigation.
Witnesses of the October attack recalled hearing “screams” in the early hours of the morning.
One resident, speaking anonymously, told the Manchester Evening News she heard screams that caused her to rush downstairs and open the front door of her house on Briscoe Lane.
She said: “It woke me up. I heard shouting and screaming. I went outside and saw all the police.
“They arrested a man; I couldn’t see what he looked like because it was dark. They dragged him out of a car after he tried to drive into a police van.”
Another resident said: “Believe it or not, I was telling my friend the other day that this is a quiet area. So this came as a bit of a shock.
“I’ve lived here 30 years, and the worst thing we’ve had was a shooting a long time ago. Apart from that, it’s usually quiet.”
