One of the world’s most popular car companies has announced that two of its new vehicles will be eligible for the Electric Car Grant, in a major boost to millions of drivers.

Kia has confirmed that the EV4 and PV5 Passenger electric vehicles are eligible for the Government’s £1.9billion Electric Car Grant.

All variants of the EV4 Air are eligible, as well as the PV5 Passenger Essential and Plus models, with drivers able to get a £1,500 discount on the purchase price.

In addition to the savings on the purchase price, motorists will also benefit from a seven-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. This is uprated to eight years for the high-voltage battery.

The EV4 is one of the brand’s most popular vehicles, with the 81.4 kWh Air variant boasting 388 miles of battery range, making it Kia’s longest-range EV in its lineup.

Drivers who opt for the EV4 Air with a 58.3kWh battery will be greeted with 273 miles of charge and an entry price of £33,245.

Kia has reached a unique benchmark with the EV4, with the electric model being the brand’s first European-built EV.

Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, said: “We are delighted that Kia customers can now benefit from the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant.

“This milestone demonstrates our commitment to making electric mobility accessible, practical, and affordable.”

Kia’s five or seven-seater PV5 Passenger EV has two grades, namely the Essential and Plus, with both available under the ECG incentive scheme.

The Standard Range battery offers motorists up to 183 miles of range, while drivers opting for the Long Range battery will be able to travel 256 miles on a single charge.

Mr Philpott continued, saying: “With the support of the grant, even more drivers can experience the innovation, reliability, and sustainability that Kia electric vehicles have become known for.

“This eligibility comes at an important time, as our nationwide network of PBV Centres become operational, delivering the new award-winning PV5 to customers.”

Kia has also launched new quarterly offers, with drivers able to save on a range of models as the South Korean brand aims to get more drivers behind the wheel of its electric cars.

This includes a £3,000 Finance Deposit Contribution for the EV4 GT-Line and GT-Line S, while the Air variant will receive a £1,000 contribution, as well as the Electric Car Grant.

All EV3 grades also come with a £3,000 FDC, and drivers can receive a £1,500 FDC on the EV4 Fastback, EV5, EV6 and EV6 GT, EV9 and EV9 GT.
