A major London tube station was forced to close after passengers were left feeling unwell.

Officers were called to Farringdon Station this morning after reports of a suspected gas leak in the station.

The station has been evacuated while enquiries are conducted.

Disruption is expected until at least 11.45am this morning.

A British Transport Police spokesman told GB News: “Officers were called to Farringdon station at 9.42am today (April 30) following reports of a suspected gas leak in the station, with a small number of passengers reporting feeling unwell.

“Officers are in attendance, alongside the ambulance service and the fire brigade, and the station has been evacuated while enquiries are conducted.”

There is currently no service on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Abbey Wood.

Thameslink services are also suspended at the station, with Transport for London (TfL) buses accepting tickets between London Blackfriars and St Pancras International.
