Lady Louise Windsor has gone almost unnoticed on a packed train from London to Bristol, as royal fans have been shocked by the 17th-in-line to the throne taking a seat on the floor.

The 22-year-old sipped on her cup of PG Tips while working on an essay.

Lady Louise, who studies at St Andrews University, boarded the heaving Great Western Railway service from London Paddington to Bristol.

Sources suggested she seemed unfazed by not being able to get a seat and was “very polite” to fellow passengers.

The royal, spotted by the Daily Mail, is currently in the final year of her English degree at the university.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh has often been referred to as a “secret weapon” for the royal family, courtesy of her down-to-earth demeanour.

While at university, the royal is said to have met her boyfriend Felix da Silva-Clamp.

During a military parade alongside Mr Silva-Clamp in November, the royal looked “incredibly committed and professional”.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s daughter was seen in full camouflage as she marched with her fellow cadets.

Her military uniform included a belted army jacket and beret, with a poppy pinned to the top pocket.

She took her role in the St Andrews University Officers’ Training Corps (UOTC) very seriously, with one source telling Hello! that her “demeanour reflects the sombre nature of the procession”.

The UOTC is an Army Reserve unit for university students, offering military experience and leadership training without requiring participants to commit to professional service.

Lady Louise holds the rank of Officer Cadet in the Army Reserve, which she fits around her final year of English degree studies.

An eyewitness stated that Lady Louise did not lose focus once, with no interaction towards her boyfriend.

Mr Silva-Clamp was also seen supporting his girlfriend at the British Carriage Driving National Championships in Essex.

An onlooker claimed he was “cheering and clapping from the sidelines” as Lady Louise competed.

They said he “did a fist pump as she went through the water” and was “keen to see [Lady Louise] progress in the sport”.

Mr Silva-Clamp was also described to Hello! as “protective” over his partner, with the pair enjoying a “nice lunch” together before the event.

Before heading to university, Lady Louise worked at a garden centre for £6.63 per hour.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s daughter was said to have been helping out on the tills, greeting customers, and pruning and potting plants.

One customer said: “She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job. You’d never imagine the Queen’s granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till.”

Another praised her, saying: “The staff seemed to adore her. It’s not every day you buy your begonias off a royal.”
