Labour has announced it will pull out of coalition and power-sharing deals with the Greens over Zack Polanski’s “Zionism is racism” policy.
Last month, all Labour council groups currently in coalition or other power-sharing arrangements with the Greens at council level were asked to write to the party and seek “reassurances” that they condemned the motion.
Today’s move will impact 11 local authorities across Britain.
Local Labour politicians also urged their Green counterparts to call on Mr Polanski to denounce what Mr Burnham described as antisemitism.
During a rendition of PMQs in October, Mr Burnham accused the Greens of being antisemitic after it passed the “Zionism is racism” policy at its Autumn Conference.
At the same time, the Prime Minister also ruled out power-sharing arrangements with the Greens despite three councils – Sheffield, Lewes and Warwick – being in coalition with Mr Polanski’s party.
In more than 10 other areas, Labour ran authorities alongside the left-wing party as part of a wider coalition.
