Watch the moment Tom Harwood is left totally exasperated after Downing Street claimed that no staff member briefed against any Cabinet minister.

After Wes Streeting was accused of conspiring to kick out Sir Keir Starmer as leader, the Prime Minister has since “been assured” that no staff at No10 did such a thing.

However, the GB News star appeared to hardly believe his ears as he listened to the breaking news report from Political Correspondent Katherine Forster live from Downing Street.

Delivering a scathing rant on the Prime Minister, Tom fumed: “Correct me if I’m wrong, but is that not the Prime Minister in effect, saying that The Times newspaper, the BBC, the Guardian all of the media establishment effectively decided to get together in some sort of lying cabal and concoct the most enormous conspiracy theory that No10 adviser had been briefing this stuff?

“Does No10 really expect us all to believe that all of those independent media organisations made up the same story at the same time?

In similar disbelief, Katherine added: “Well, that is exactly what we asked. I’ve put that in block capitals with multiple exclamation marks behind it, because of course, it wasn’t just one journalist. This was briefed to multiple journalists.

“Now the Prime Minister is simply saying that he has been assured. He has been told by his team in No10 that no briefings were given against Wes Streeting from in this building. He’s been told that.

“But clearly somebody somewhere has briefed all these journalists. And I think there is still a lot of suspicion that that somebody might be in there.”

Absolutely flabbergasted, Tom responded: “From the man who accused Boris Johnson of lying quite so much!

“I mean, that sounds like it is an absolute mistruth coming from No10. Just the most extraordinary news.”

On Wednesday, Wes Streeting condemned the “toxic” culture in Downing Street after anonymous briefings accused him of plotting to boot out the Prime Minister.

A No10 source claimed Sir Keir “briefly” spoke with the Health Secretary directly on Wednesday evening to apologise.

However, Sir Keir has since “been assured no No10 staff briefed against any Cabinet minister”, Downing Street confirmed in a statement.

He vowed to investigate the source of the accusations that the Health Secretary was mounting a coup to become Labour leader, party chairwoman Anna Turley said on Wednesday evening.

Subsequently, Downing Street Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney fell under fire as many called for Sir Keir to sack his right hand man.

At PMQs on Wednesday, Tory chief Kemi Badenoch laid into Labour’s “civil war” and called for Sir Keir to publicly give Mr McSweeney his full confidence – the “kiss of death”, as Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith later put it.

The PM responded: “Morgan McSweeney, my team and I are absolutely focused on delivering for the country.

“I’ve never authorised attacks on Cabinet members. I appointed them to their posts because they are the best people to carry out their jobs.”

GB News guest and political commentator ripped into “childish” staff in Downing Street after Mr Streeting emerged “strengthened” over the Government’s briefing war.

Meanwhile, No10 had been made to appear “childish” and “not focused on the job at hand” as murmurs of a Labour civil war rumble on.
