Kate Garraway has shared an update on her dating life almost two years after the tragic death of her husband, Derek Draper.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has been candid about her grief journey after Mr Draper suffered a long and complicated battle with after being diagnosed with Covid in from March 2020.

He remained in hospital for more than a year with severe complications before returning home, where he required round-the-clock care.

He was hospitalised once again in December 2023 before suffering cardiac arrest and sadly dying in January 2024.

Ms Garraway recently opened up about her dating life as she chatted to podcaster Jamie Laing.

She joked about him finding her a “single dad,” but expressed concerns that she doesn’t think anyone “would want” her.

The 58-year-old mother of two appeared on the former Made In Chelsea’s Great Company Podcast.

When he asked about the potential of dating again, she responded: “Well, I wouldn’t like to think that I’d never had romantic love in my life again.

“I think that would be rather a sad way to go through life wouldn’t it? But, no, I’m not there yet.

“I don’t know if anybody would want me, Jamie.”

She went on to joke: “Talk to your mates, find out if any of their dads are single, that’s your task Jamie.”

After Mr Laing probed her on whether she was using dating apps, Ms Garraway replied: “No, course not.

“I don’t think I’ve ever really dated because everyone keeps asking me about dating and I don’t think I’ve ever dated in that way that you guys do.

“I think it’s an uncomfortable thing to do to go and meet someone you’ve never met.

“I just end up interviewing them and struggling to get a word in edgeways.

“I’m of the old school where you lived life, did things you loved and then met people along the way. But maybe that doesn’t happen anymore.”

GREAT COMPANY WITH JAMIE LAING

Ms Garraway made similar comments in September this year after she told The Sun: “I don’t feel as if I can,” when asked about dating.

She continued: “It’s a weird one, because I wouldn’t like to think I’d spend the rest of my life without love, but also it feels preposterous at the moment to think of being with anyone else.

“What Derek and I loved was our home life and just pottering around, and we had 21 years of that, so mentally I am still in that zone.

“However, I do realise that, when the time is right, I am not going to meet someone in my living room, so I’m going to have to think about the future at some point.”
