Jeremy Clarkson’s newest update about his Oxfordshire farm, Diddly Squat, prompted some concerns from fans, leading him to issue a blunt response back at them in the comments section.

The remarks came on Tuesday, when the former Top Gear star shared an adorable photo of the newest member of the farm, a donkey named Ben.

The Clarkson’s Farm star wrote in the caption: “Please welcome to Diddly Squat. New Ben.”

While many gushed over the sweet newcomer, other fans expressed their worries about the addition.

One asked: “Does he have a donkey friend to live with? Very important!”

“Beautiful but needs a friend they are social lovelies need to be in pairs or groups,” a second echoed.

Someone else wrote: “Aww he is gorgeous but he needs a friend though. They don’t like to be alone.”

One more warned: “I hope you have another donkey for Ben, donkeys shouldn’t live on their own and other livestock aren’t suitable companions.”

Mr Clarkson was forced to respond to the comments and bluntly hit back: “Yes. We know that.”

Others simply shared their enthusiasm for the new farm animal, with one writing: “Oh my god what a dashing donk. Look at that big sparkly eye.”

An eager Clarkson’s Farm viewer asked: “Will we see him in the new series!?”

“I’m in LOVE with BEN,” one more social media user added. (sic)

The new addition will no doubt have come as some welcome news for Mr Clarkson, who was forced to halt filming for the new series of Clarkson’s Farm recently.

In last week’s Sunday Times column, he cited relentless rainfall since January as he explained why he had to hit pause on developing series six.

“There’s no filming happening on the farm at the moment,” he explained.

“Or farming. It hasn’t stopped raining since the beginning of the year, so I can’t plant anything, and I can’t do anything with my cows either because we are still locked down by TB.”

The tuberculosis restrictions mean his cattle herd remains confined, compounding what has already been a frustrating start to the year.

No timeline has been given for when production might resume, leaving fans uncertain about the schedule for the upcoming series.

However, Mr Clarkson’s partner, Lisa Hogan, also gave fans something more uplifting to focus on, sharing news of new arrivals expected at the Cotswolds farm.

Posting on Instagram, Ms Hogan shared footage of the farm’s sheep flock and revealed they are pregnant.
