GB News’ National Reporter Jack Carson has been nominated for the Journalist of the Year award at the prestigious Royal Television Society’s Midlands awards.

The award is granted to a broadcast or online journalist from the Midlands, or who is Midlands-based, for the best produced work during the year.

There are 21 different categories, each recognising and celebrating a different facet within the broadcasting, digital, and media industries.

Each category was judged by a panel of independent judges between August and early September 2025 with the full list of nominees being released on September 29.

Jack said: “I’m delighted to be shortlisted for this award amongst some incredibly talented journalists.

“It’s really humbling to be recognised in this way for all the stories I’ve done over the past year – whether that’s chasing peacocks around a Staffordshire village, covering Birmingham’s bin strikes or telling the story of Britain’s nuclear test veterans – people across the Midlands have let me into their lives to tell their stories and every day it’s a privilege to do so.

“GB News is the People’s Channel and every time I report on a story, it’s so important to me to make sure voices from every part of this region are heard.

“To be nominated for this award is an honour.”

The winners will be announced on December 12, 2025

“Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on December 12, 2025.”

– Lewis Warner (ITV Central)
– Natalie Jackson (BBC East Midlands Today)
