Brooklyn Beckham sent shockwaves through the celebrity world on Monday with a blistering public attack on his famous parents, accusing David and Victoria of attempting to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz.

The 26-year-old levelled extraordinary allegations against the couple, claiming they had been “endlessly trying” to destroy his relationship with the American heiress.

He further accused them of prioritising media attention above family bonds and planting falsehoods in the press.

Perhaps most strikingly, Brooklyn attributed years of “overwhelming anxiety” to his upbringing, stating that these feelings had vanished since distancing himself from his parents.

He has ruled out any prospect of reconciliation with the former England captain and his fashion designer wife.

The weight of the Beckham name had shadowed Brooklyn from his earliest years.

Public scrutiny of his footballing potential began when he was merely four years old, participating in a community scheme with Tottenham whilst his father captained England and dazzled at Real Madrid.

“You can already see that Brooklyn is going to develop into a good player,” one observer remarked to the Evening Standard at the time, noting that despite practising only basic skills, the youngster “shows lots of promise.”

By fifteen, Arsenal had secured his signature for their academy, reportedly beating Manchester United and Chelsea to his services.

Club sources described him as having “stood out in all of the training sessions and games” and predicted he could become “a huge talent.”

The pinnacle of Brooklyn’s Arsenal career proved to be a place on the substitutes’ bench for an Under-18 fixture against Leicester in February 2015.

That matchday squad offers a fascinating glimpse at the talent surrounding him, with Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles among his fellow reserves, both of whom would establish themselves in the top flight.

Leicester’s side that day included future England international Ben Chilwell and Harvey Barnes, players who have since accumulated Champions League and domestic honours.

Yet whilst his contemporaries progressed to professional careers, Brooklyn’s journey ended abruptly.

Arsenal declined to offer him a professional contract, with coaches determining that other players in his position had developed more substantially.

His departure from the sport had been foreshadowed two years earlier when David spoke candidly about his son’s inner turmoil.

“One of my boys turned around to me the other day and said, ‘Daddy, I’m not sure I want to play football all the time’,” the former Manchester United star told ABC in 2013.

David revealed Brooklyn had confessed that stepping onto the pitch brought constant awareness that spectators were judging him against his father’s achievements, feeling that anything less than matching that standard would be deemed inadequate.

“I don’t want them to have that pressure. I want them to be happy,” David had insisted.

Brooklyn later acknowledged the emotional toll of walking away, admitting he had been saddened to abandon something that had consumed his life since the age of two.

Following his release from Arsenal, Brooklyn attempted to forge alternative paths to success, though ventures into photography and cookery both failed to gain traction.

He has since found work as a model and influencer, securing various brand partnerships.

Brooklyn maintains that his union with Nicola Peltz, daughter of American billionaire Nelson Peltz, has delivered the tranquillity that eluded him throughout his youth.

He claims the marriage has brought “peace and relief” after years battling debilitating anxiety.

The fractures within the Beckham family, he asserts, began during their April 2022 wedding, with Brooklyn alleging repeated interference in his relationship.

He described feeling “so uncomfortable and humiliated” that the couple chose to renew their vows on their third anniversary.
