The Duchess of Sussex’s latest promotional clip for her lifestyle brand, As ever, left viewers puzzled, with critics claiming the advertisement prioritised Meghan herself over the products being sold.
Posted last night, the footage depicted the 44-year-old strolling barefoot through her garden in a blue-striped shirt and white trousers, clutching a straw basket filled with apples, artichokes, peaches and tomatoes while birdsong played in the background.
The video, captioned “A basket full of summer,” showed Meghan posing for the camera and drinking tea.
Social media users on X expressed confusion about the advert’s purpose. “I think that’s the weakest part of the campaign as the product feels secondary to the personality,” one wrote.

“If people are talking more about the poses and camera angles than the tea or jam, the marketing MISSED the mark.”
Another commenter suggested Meghan “has no clue who her target market is.”
A third user questioned the concept entirely, writing: “I just don’t get the fruit/veg basket bit anyway. She’s not a greengrocer.”
However, a fan of the duchess commented: “Meghan looking fresh and summery on her As ever video. My babe looking awesome.”

Another said: “The campaign simply celebrates summer, warm weather, seasonal produce, and a healthy lifestyle. Yet, true to form.”
The promotional content followed Father’s Day posts shared by the duchess on June 21, including a breakfast image on the As ever account featuring toast topped with one of her berry spreads alongside orange juice and an orange.
On her personal Instagram, Meghan published a photograph of Prince Harry, 41, kneeling to embrace their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.
“They’re so lucky to have you. We all are. Happy Father’s Day to our one and only,” the caption read.

In the image, Lilibet wore white shorts and a top paired with a giraffe GoldBug backpack, while Archie sported an England Fifa World Cup print T-shirt from Zara.
The family photograph appeared just hours after the Royal Family extended birthday and Father’s Day wishes to Prince William, who turned 44.
The Duke of Sussex is planning to bring Meghan and their children to Britain in mid-July for the one-year countdown celebration ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The trip would mark the first time the Sussexes have visited the UK together in four years.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have not seen their grandfather, King Charles III, in person since June 2022, when they attended Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Harry is understood to be content with security arrangements for the visit and is now making plans for the children to travel from California.
The duke has met with his father only twice in the past two years.
The duchess has not made an extended visit to Britain since the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022, aside from brief London stopovers during foreign tours.
