Lancashire have signed Gloucestershire all-rounder Ben Charlesworth on a three-year contract.

The 25-year-old will remain at Bristol for the rest of this summer before making the move north to Old Trafford ahead of the 2027 season.

Charlesworth has scored 2,869 first-class runs, including four centuries, and taken 33 wickets in red-ball cricket and he was a member of the Gloucestershire team that won the T20 Blast trophy in 2024.

“Ben is a player we have tracked closely for some time, and we are delighted to have secured his services from the 2027 season onwards,” said Lancashire director of cricket performance Mark Chilton.

“His ability to contribute across multiple areas of the game makes him a valuable addition to our squad, particularly with his capability to bat in different positions and provide a seam bowling option.”

Charlesworth averages 30 with the bat in first-class cricket, but it is almost 10 runs higher in the 50-over game in which he has scored almost 1,000 runs in 28 matches.

“I know Ajeet Singh Dale and Will Porterfield well from their time at Gloucestershire, and they have spoken very highly about the set-up at Lancs and at Emirates Old Trafford,” Charlesworth said.

“I am looking forward to taking this next challenge in my career and contributing to a successful Lancashire side for the seasons ahead.”
