Another migrant manhunt has been launched after an Albanian national escaped from an an immigration removal centre.
The Home Office confirmed that the 19-year-old man fled during a hospital transfer from Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre in Oxfordshire on Tuesday.
The Albanian national is not believed to be a risk to the general public, according to Sky News.
A spokesman for the Home Office said: “We can confirm that a detained person absconded while under escort from Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre on 14 July 2026.
“We have robust measures to track down and detain absconders. It would not be appropriate to comment further during a live investigation.”
The manhunt comes just hours after Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was urgently searching for a violent Sudanese migrant who escaped from prison while being transported to hospital.
Marwan Jumaa, who is said to be 20-years-old, was being transported from a secure hospital facility to North Manchester General for medical treatment when he absconded from custody.
Jumaa was serving an indefinite sentence in a secure hospital facility, after previously being convicted of two robberies, which saw two women and police officers receive serious injuries.
GB News disclosed that Jumaa, a Sudanese national who appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last year, does not have indefinite leave to remain.
The People’s Channel also revealed hat Jumaa was being kept in Belmarsh prison in South London while also being treated at a secure hospital unit in the Greater Manchester area.
