Alex Armstrong has been inundated with supportive messages after sharing that he’d been forced to miss out on GB News’ live show from Essex on Thursday.

The presenter, who’d been speaking to locals in Aberdeen throughout the day about what GB News meant to them, was scheduled to join the likes of Patrick Christys, Bev Turner, and other stars at the celebratory show.

However, travel disruptions meant Alex had to miss out, with his plans of jetting from Aberdeen to London scuppered.

He explained his absence from the five-year celebration special on Instagram, sharing a snap from his time speaking with GB News fans in the Scottish city.

“Despite not being able to make it to Essex for the big 5-year celebration, due to my flight being diverted to Manchester, a big thank you to our amazing @gbnews members who came to join me today in Aberdeen,” Alex graciously said.

“You are all truly such wonderful people, and it was my pleasure to meet you all.”

He then turned his attention to his colleagues: “Thanks to the GBN team for all the hard work put in to pull it all off. Here’s to the next 5 years if I’m lucky enough to share them with you.”

Soon after, Alex delved into the details of his chaotic travel plans on his Instagram Stories.

“What a disaster,” he began alongside a screenshot from British Airways of his rescheduled flight.

“Finally landed, diverted to Manchester, and have to wait 20 mins for a bus to the terminal now.”

In an attempt to see the funny side, Alex then shared his flight reference number, which read: “SHT19T.”

Alex cheekily captioned the picture: “New flight reference is perfect.”

“I hope that you are here for the next 5 years and beyond. You are brilliant, Alex,” one fan typed on Instagram.

A second echoed: “Absolutely smashed it up in Aberdeen today. Keep going, GB News is unstoppable!”

“That’s a shame,” a third said of the travel chaos, while a fourth reached out: “You are my favorite GB News presenter. Keep up the amazing work xx.”

During his time in Aberdeen, GB News fans and viewers told Alex how the channel’s community “feels like a family”.

Speaking to Alex, one fan in the Granite City said: “I just think the people are lovely. It just feels like a family. That’s that’s the main thing.

“I started watching it from day one, and I’ve just stuck with it because there are great people, it’s just a great family atmosphere.

“And the fact that you’re here in Aberdeen, that’s a big thing, bothering to come up and see us all, and so that we can share in the channel.”
