Tackling domestic abuse, sexual assault, and gender-based violence has long been a central pillar of the Queen’s public work.
She is a patron of SafeLives and lends her support to Juno Women’s Aid as well as Nigeria’s Mirabel Centre.
Back in 2013, she established the Wash Bags Project, later relaunched in partnership with Boots and In Kind Direct, which provides essential toiletries to survivors following forensic medical examinations.
Her Majesty has also promoted safe spaces initiatives, including the Ask for ANI scheme, and regularly welcomes survivors, campaigners, and international leaders to Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace for receptions tied to occasions such as the UN’s 16 Days of Activism and International Women’s Day.
