The King and Queen’s announcement of their latest overseas tour this afternoon was “deliberately timed” to coincide with Harry and Meghan’s homecoming, a royal expert has claimed.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will embark on an Autumn Tour spanning October 27 to November 4, visiting the Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda, and Guyana, Buckingham Palace confirmed today.

The tour will mark 60 years of bilateral relations between the UK and Guyana.

It will also celebrate communities, cultures and nature within the Commonwealth, and coincide with the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda.

However, today’s announcement came merely hours after Harry and Meghan touched down on British soil.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams claims revealing the monarch’s upcoming tour – his first since visiting Donald Trump in the US – today was a “deliberate” act from Buckingham Palace.

He told GB News: “The news of the King and Queen’s tour was obviously, in my view, deliberately announced to coincide with their arrival.

Mr Fitzwilliams added: “As it should have been!”

“The monarchy’s link with the Commonwealth is uniquely precious,” he continued.

“Harry and Meghan were once to be pivotal links with the Commonwealth.”

However, according to Mr Fitzwilliams, the Sussexes “trashed the institution” in a “shameful” manner.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were today joined by their children, who are believed to have been enrolled in a school in the Cotswolds, for the 9hr 55mins flight from California.

Today’s announcement from Buckingham Palace came merely hours after Harry and Meghan touched down on British soil, embarking on their next chapter: a shock return to Britain

Leaving Van Nuys Airport in California at 6.01pm PDT (2.01am BST), the Sussexes landed in Birmingham at 11.56am today.

It emerged last week that the Sussexes intended to relocate to the UK this month for an “extended period of time”.

While that can be interpreted in many different ways, it is said that Harry “will be here for the next 12 to 15 years minimum,” according to the Daily Mail.

However, while Harry and the children are anticipated to set up a more permanent residence in the UK, Meghan may take on a more “international role”.

The duchess is expected to “come and go” from California, where she has her As Ever brand, and the couple’s Archewell Productions offices are.

Mr Fitzwilliams noted the couple appears to be “relocating separately”.

“They will be a thorn in the side of the Royal Family,” he said.

“How it pans out will be anthropologically fascinating.”
