Popular car brand Fiat has confirmed that its micro electric vehicle is now open for orders in the UK, aimed at drivers in urban areas.

Drivers are now able to get their hands on the Fiat Topolino after Fiat opened its order books for the all-electric quadricycle.

The lightweight electric vehicle is described as offering a “fresh and simple” approach to urban mobility as more people in cities make the transition to EVs.

Prices for the Topolino will start from £8,995 on-the-road and will be available exclusively through selected UK retailers.

The quadricycle has a WLTP battery range of up to 46 miles, with a 6kW electric motor providing a top speed of 28mph.

Fiat explained that the Topolino is well-suited for everyday local use, in addition to short urban journeys, leisure use and low-speed environments.

The Italian brand has designed the Topolino to be suitable for first-time electric vehicle users with a single-speed automatic transmission and a three-position drive selector.

Despite its compact size, motorists have up to 63 litres of storage, including the Dolce Vita Box, which is a fabric-topped compartment for personal items.

The Topolino pays homage to the original Fiat 500 Topolino, which was produced between 1936 and 1955 and became synonymous with affordability.

Topolino, which translates to “little mouse” in Italian, has been revived by Fiat to pair the original heritage with modern electric technology.

Kris Cholmondeley, managing director of Fiat UK, said: “Topolino is an important part of Fiat’s sustainable micromobility strategy, delivering simple, accessible urban mobility.

“It offers a practical solution for short journeys, leisure use and city environments, while fully embracing Fiat’s values of joy, simplicity and fun.”

The Topolino is available in Corallo and Verde Vita, with drivers able to choose between a burnt orange paint colour and turquoise.

To operate the light quadricycle on UK roads, owners must legally have at least third-party insurance, similar to cover for a moped or motor scooter.

Kia remains one of the best-selling brands in the UK with almost 52,500 new car sales, capturing 5.7 per cent of the total new car market.

It has also seen a modest increase in sales of 1.02 per cent, while the Kia Sportage remains the second-best-selling car in the country with 21,274 registrations.
