Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed the locations of the remaining branches in its network that will close down in both 2026 and 2027.

The financial institution, which comprises Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, has revealed that 233 sites will close their doors for good this year, with another 12 scheduled for early next year.

The banking giant revealed earlier this month that the latest round of closures encompasses 48 Halifax branches alongside 31 Lloyds locations.

Bank of Scotland, which has a majority of its locations north of Hadrian’s Wall, will also see a number of its sites close during the course of the year.

The group attributed the ongoing closures to a sustained drop in customers visiting physical branches, combined with an accelerating transition towards online and mobile banking services.

No other banking network in the UK has reduced its physical presence more substantially, with Lloyds having shuttered close to 1,600 locations across the country since 2015.

Despite the scale of closures, the banking group emphasised its commitment to maintaining in-person services, stating it would continue investing in face-to-face banking provision.

More than 170 community bankers have been deployed to offer localised support for customers who prefer personal assistance with their banking needs.

Customers affected by the closures will have access to cash deposit facilities at more than 28,000 PayPoint outlets nationwide, while Post Office branches will continue to provide banking services.

The group has also pledged additional targeted assistance for vulnerable customers navigating the transition away from traditional branch banking.

In a statement, a bank spokesperson said: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our community bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
