Police have seized 20kg of cornflakes during a £750,000 drug raid in West Yorkshire.

Officers have seized drugs worth an estimated three quarters of £1million along with cash, Rolex watches and around 20kg of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes during a series of raids in Pontefract.

West Yorkshire Police carried out search warrants at six addresses in Pontefract and Darrington earlier this week as part of an investigation into suspected drug supply.

The operation followed the arrest of two men in Pontefract on Monday morning, 9 March.

During the subsequent searches, two further men and a woman were also arrested.

Police said the raids led to the seizure of cocaine, cannabis and ketamine with a combined estimated street value of £750,000.

Officers also recovered around £10,000 in cash and a number of Rolex watches believed to be worth as much as £120,000.

Among the more unusual items discovered during the searches was breakfast staple in British households, corn flakes.

Police said they seized “approximately 20 kilos of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, believed to have been stolen”.

That is approximately 30 boxes of the cereal, with a retail value of roughly £105.

Kyle Bates, 34, of Westbourne Road in Pontefract, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, cannabis and ketamine.

Alan Tonks, 47, of Greenhill Mount, Pontefract, has been charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, cannabis and ketamine.

Reece Britnell, 23, of Poplar Green, Pontefract, faces a charge of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Mark Bates, 38, also of Poplar Green, Pontefract, has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, cannabis and ketamine.

He has also been charged with possession of criminal property.

All four men appeared before magistrates in Leeds on Wednesday.

A woman in her 30s who was also arrested during the operation has since been released on bail.

The court ordered that the men be remanded in custody ahead of their next hearing.

They are due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on April 9.

Enquiries by West Yorkshire Police into the circumstances surrounding the drugs, cash and other seized items remain ongoing.
