A Muslim man with “abhorrent and shocking views” pictured on multiple occasions with Rachel Reeves has been accused of spreading 9/11 conspiracy theories — and suggested he will help “destroy” those who speak against Islam.

Arshad Khatana, vice-chairman of Leeds Council of Mosques and a member of the Jamia Masjid Ghousia in Armley, is understood to have shared a video suggesting the September 11 attacks were subtly leaked in the media.

According to Reform UK’s Treasury spokesman, Robert Jenrick, Mr Khatana was previously pictured alongside preachers with “vile” views.

In September 2025, Mr Khatana was photographed sitting next to Muhammad Adil Shahzad, who previously implied search engine Google should not be used because it’s “run by the Jews”.

Mr Shahzad said in the past: “Don’t go to Google, Facebook and Twitter. Go to the Ulama Haqqa (scholars of truth) for your answers. When you type these things on Google, nine out of ten websites are either run by Qadianis or they are run by the Jews.”

In 2019, Mr Khatana posted a video suggesting the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, in which 2,977 innocent civilians and 19 airline hijackers died, was secretly implied on American television shows such as The Simpsons before it occurred.

The narrator states: “Media is being used to psychologically train audiences for upcoming geopolitical change. And also to convey covert messages that may include leaking of important information in a subtle manner.”

And that same year, Mr Khabana posted a compilation which featured figures such as Riyaz Naikoo, a member of Hizbul Mujahideen, a proscribed terror group in the European Union, Canada, and United States.

Mr Jenrick said Ms Reeves, who is the MP for Leeds West and Pudsey, had met with Mr Khatana on at least two dozen occasions, including at his Yorkshire home.

Theformer Tory said: “This is an appalling lack of judgement from Rachel Reeves. She has become very close to a local ‘community leader’ in Leeds in order to save her own political skin.

“But this man is a fanatic who has repeatedly shown that he holds shocking views.

“We don’t want foreign issues and sectarian politics to dictate what happens in our parliament. Reeves must answer for this and explain why she has become so close to this man.”

Labour Party spokesman told GB News: “These abhorrent views are clearly not shared by the Chancellor.

“She was not aware of these allegations.”

GB News understands Arshad Khatana has been administratively suspended from the Labour Party, pending an investigation.

The People’s Channel have also approached Leeds Council of Mosques and Jamia Masjid Ghousia for comment.
