Watch the moment pro-trans activists were left stuttering after failing to answer basic questions about the case which started the protest.

The march took place in London after a 60-year-old marketing executive had the police called on her for challenging someone who was “unmistakably male” in a female changing room.

The demonstration, organised by the gym member Miranda Newsom and the Women’s Rights Network, was attended by a pro-women’s group with counter-protest groups, UNISION, Unite and GMB, in attendance too.

Ms Newsom spoke out in December about her local council-run leisure centre in Southwark, London where she claims to have seen a trans woman in the changing room.

After she confronted the individual, the Metropolitan Police was called to The Castle Centre in Elephant and Castle.

Ms Newsom’s gym membership was subsequently suspended for a year, not only from her local gym, but all eight council-run leisure centres across the area.

Reporting on the ground, Ms Shaw put several simple questions to the pro-trans protesters, first asking: “What’s the issue here?”

“So Southwark Council has banned a member at the leisure centre for harassing a trans person in the changing rooms,” they said.

A protester told Connie Shaw she had to stop the conversation because it made her feel ‘anxious’

“We’re supporting Southwark Council and the trans person.”

Asked whether the trans individual was male or female, the woman, brandishing the transgender flag, responded: “I don’t know.”

As the conversation progressed with Connie asking about what it means to identify as female and whether women should have the right to single-sex spaces, the protester became visibly flustered.

“Sorry, I’m not like, I don’t like this conversation,” she admitted.

The protester failed to explain what a trans woman is

Asked why, she responded: “I don’t feel like you should be attacking what I’m saying.”

“How am I attacking what you’re saying?” Ms Shaw asked.

“You’re making me very anxious. And I’d like to stop this conversation, please,” the protester said.

It took less than a minute for Ms Shaw to be called a fascist for asking what a trans woman is and for men with drums to surround her, drowning out her conversations.

Another conversation with a male protester ended up with him simply robotically repeating: “Trans women are women.”

When asked for a definition, he looked away from Ms Shaw and declared: “Trans women are women!”

Asking another protester what a trans woman is, they responded: “I’m not a doctor.”

A Unison spokesman said: “Unison promotes equality for all its members and staff, particularly those who have a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.

“The law requires that unison ensures any of its members or staff who has any of the protected characteristics are not discriminated against.”
