National Lottery has launched an urgent hunt to find the winner of a £1million EuroMillions prize, with the deadline now just four days away.

The winning ticket, bearing numbers VLPL28287 from draw 1868, must be validated by February 11, or the substantial sum will be forfeited.

National Lottery officials are urging anyone who purchased a EuroMillions ticket in Birmingham last August to thoroughly search their belongings for the potentially life-changing slip.

Despite the huge windfall at stake, the fortunate ticket holder has yet to come forward to identify themselves and collect their prize money.

The ticket was originally purchased on August 15, 2025, and under National Lottery regulations, winners must come forward within a strict 180-day period to cash in their prize.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, said: “Were you in or around Birmingham in the week leading up to the 15 August draw?

“Maybe it isn’t even a local winner – did you visit the area for the day and play Lotto – did you return home and stash it somewhere safe?

“Have a think back to what you were doing on that date, as I want nothing more than to unite the winner with their prize money.

Should the mystery winner fail to present themselves before the Wednesday deadline, the £1million will no longer be available for collection.

Instead, the unclaimed funds will be redirected towards charitable initiatives backed by the National Lottery.

The organisation distributes approximately £32million weekly to support projects across the UK, spanning community programmes, artistic endeavours, heritage preservation and sporting activities.

This latest appeal follows a concerning pattern of substantial lottery prizes going unclaimed by their rightful owners.

Among the outstanding prizes yet to be collected is a substantial £10,633,323 ticket purchased in the London Borough of Bexley on October 4, 2025.

Two additional £1million winning tickets from November draws also remain unclaimed, with one bought in South Gloucestershire requiring collection by April 30.

Meanwhile, a Dorset purchaser has until May 3 to validate their claim with lottery officials.

A further prize of £112,091 awaits its owner in Powys, Wales, where a ticket bought on December 12 carries a June 10 deadline.

Just last month, the National Lottery found one of the mysterious ticket winners who had not yet claimed their prize in the Mid Sussex District.

The winner, whose identity remains undisclosed, stepped forward to receive their £1million sum following the public appeal.

Mr Carter said he was “delighted” that the missing winner, confirmed to be from the West Sussex area, had finally been located.
