Tesco shoppers have just over a month left to bag themselves up to £50 in bonus Clubcard points through the supermarket’s Challenges scheme.

The promotion, which first launched back in August 2024, gives selected loyalty card holders the opportunity to complete personalised spending goals and pocket extra rewards.

It’s worth noting that not everyone can take part – only certain customers receive an invitation to join in. Those lucky enough to be eligible have until February 23 to complete their challenges and claim their bonus points.

That means bargain-hunters have roughly five weeks remaining to make the most of this opportunity. The scheme works by offering Clubcard members a selection of up to 10 different challenges tailored specifically to their shopping habits.

These challenges feature brands that customers already buy on a regular basis, making them genuinely achievable rather than forcing people to change their usual shopping routine.

Once you hit the spending targets set out in your account, you’ll unlock bonus points on top of what you’d normally collect.

It’s a brilliant way for loyal Tesco shoppers to earn extra rewards simply by doing what they already do – picking up their favourite products during the weekly shop.

Shoppers who manage to complete every single challenge can earn a whopping 5,000 points, which translates to £50 that can be spent directly in-store to knock money off the grocery bill.

But here’s where it gets even better – those points can actually be doubled to £100 if you swap them with Tesco’s reward partners.

For those unfamiliar with how the standard Clubcard system works, you earn one point for every £1 spent in-store or online when scanning your card or app. Drivers can also collect one point for every two litres of fuel purchased. Each point is worth 1p, so 150 points equals £1.50.

Tesco is also offering another promotion, enabling members to triple the worth of their vouchers at seven popular restaurant chains across the UK.

The supermarket giant launched the offer on Monday, strategically timing the announcement to coincide with Blue Monday – widely considered the gloomiest day of the year.

Under the scheme, loyalty card holders can transform a £10 voucher into £30 to spend on dining out, with even amounts as small as 50p converting to £1.50 in restaurant credit.

The initiative arrives as many households find themselves financially stretched following the festive period, offering a welcome opportunity for an affordable treat. The participating chains include ASK Italian, Bella Italia, Frankie & Benny’s, Prezzo Italian, Zizzi, and Las Iguanas, which joins as a new reward partner offering Mexican cuisine.

PizzaExpress rounds out the seven restaurants, having already introduced the triple-value option before Christmas last year.

Five of the chains were previously Clubcard reward partners but have now upgraded from their earlier voucher rates to the more generous triple conversion.

The deal effectively means shoppers can earn substantial dining credit simply through their regular grocery purchases at Tesco stores.

Notably, the supermarket had scaled back its triple-value offerings back in 2023, making this expansion a significant reversal.

Shama Wilson, Tesco’s Group Membership and Loyalty Director, said: “With the third Monday in January often being labelled as Blue Monday and the most miserable day of the year, we hope today’s news will help lift the nation’s spirits, with Clubcard members now able to get even better value from their vouchers as they enjoy a meal out.”

She added that the PizzaExpress trial proved extremely popular with members, expressing delight that five existing reward partners have now moved to triple value alongside newcomer Las Iguanas.

The timing reflects data from Tesco’s Clubcard Unpacked report published earlier this month, which revealed dining out was the most sought-after reward category among members throughout 2024.

To access the offer, Clubcard holders need to log into the Tesco app, navigate to the Clubcard section, and select their preferred restaurant from the Eating Out category.

After choosing how many vouchers to exchange, members receive a confirmation email followed by a code, which also appears in the app’s My Rewards section within 15 minutes. The code can be shown on a smartphone or as a printed email when arriving at the restaurant.

More than 24 million UK households currently hold Clubcard membership, giving the promotion significant reach. Beyond dining, members can also double their voucher value at BrewDog Bars, converting 50p into £1.
