Tyrer will provide competition for current number one Nathan Trott, one of Cardiff’s star performers this season following his loan move from Copenhagen.

Boss Brian Barry-Murphy had stated the temporary transfer ban did not cause any concerns for Cardiff, who are bidding to return to the Championship at the first attempt following last season’s relegation.

“Brian has been very positive,” Tyrer added.

“I’ve spoken to a few people behind the scenes and they’ve also spoken about how positive he is. He’s told me to come in and work hard. That’s what I’m all about.”

Tyrer played 42 games during a loan spell at Blackpool last season, having previously played 43 times during another loan stint for Chesterfield.

The Everton academy product leaves the Premier League club without making a senior appearance.

Ethan Horvath is expected to leave Cardiff this month, but Barry-Murphy says Tyrer’s arrival will give the Welsh club “real competition” for the goalkeeper’s shirt with Trott and Matt Turner also part of his squad.

A left-back could also be on Cardiff’s January wish list as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Barry-Murphy’s team take on third-placed Bradford City at Valley Parade on Saturday (12:30 GMT).
