Brooklyn Beckham’s decision to issue a legal letter to his parents David and Victoria was motivated by concerns for his mental wellbeing, GB News understand.

The 26-year-old has shared with friends that social media posts from his parents in which he was tagged or mentioned had been causing him significant distress.

“It had been leading to issues with his mental health, and the letter was to protect himself,” a source told the Mirror.

The situation reportedly worsened after the letter was sent last summer, with Victoria liking one of his photographs and David sharing a childhood image of Brooklyn at Christmas.

Sources claim Brooklyn’s repeated requests for his parents to stop such posts had previously gone unheeded, prompting the formal legal approach.

The aspiring chef instructed his parents to direct all future correspondence through his legal representatives rather than contacting him directly.

Brooklyn has made clear his preference for any attempts at mending the relationship to occur away from the public gaze of social media platforms.

A source familiar with the dispute indicated that the eldest Beckham child feels his parents continue to treat him as a youngster rather than recognising him as an independent adult.

“Even the Xmas post by his dad was of Brooklyn as a child,” a friend noted.

The legal correspondence, sent via the law firm Schillings, represents Brooklyn’s final formal communication with David and Victoria, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The family dispute has intensified in recent weeks, with Brooklyn blocking his parents and siblings on social media platforms.

His younger brother Cruz confirmed the situation online, clarifying that family members had not unfollowed Brooklyn but had instead been blocked without any prior warning.

Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz has also taken steps to distance herself from the Beckham family, removing all references to them from her Instagram account, including a previous birthday message to Victoria.

The actress subsequently shared posts celebrating her own relatives, describing them as “my crew” and featuring photographs from visits to her parents’ home alongside Brooklyn and their pets.

Brooklyn himself has not deleted similar content featuring his family, though he has been absent from several significant Beckham gatherings, including David’s milestone 50th birthday celebrations and a recent investiture ceremony.

Despite the breakdown in communication, David and Victoria Beckham reportedly remain determined to repair their relationship with their eldest son.

Sources describe the couple as “utterly bemused and devastated” by the turn of events, believing their social media gestures were intended to signal that “the door is always open and that they still care.”

“They are only doing what every parent would do in this situation… they love Brooklyn deeply and will always be there for him,” one source said.

Brooklyn is also said to be frustrated by suggestions that his wife Nicola is orchestrating the estrangement, with a source describing such claims as “sexist and misogynistic.”

While relations with his parents remain fractured, Brooklyn reportedly maintains close ties with his grandparents on both sides of the family.
