Salford City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Joe Powell following the expiry of his Rotherham United contract.

Powell, 27, joined the Millers from Burton Albion in 2024 having begun his career at West Ham United.

He has made over 230 appearances in League One, scoring 28 goals and registering 38 assists.

“I’m over the moon to get started, I’m looking forward to the season and hopefully some very good things to come,” Powell told Salford’s club website., external

“When I sat down with the club we had a good chat, and our ambitions aligned.”

Powell said he hoped to “bring a bit of excitement” to the Peninsula Stadium.

“I’ve got a lot to give, hopefully I can put that on show. You can expect to see a lot of desire, a lot of passion.

“I’ll cover every blade of grass that I can, and on top of that I can bring quality with the final pass, breaking the lines, some long distance shots.”

It is the first signing Salford have made since confirming Peter Cklamovski as the club’s manager, replacing Karl Robinson.
