A woman has admitted to harassment after she was caught hurling insults at her neighbour on a doorbell camera.

Adele Brannan, of East Howdon in Tyneside, pleaded guilty to harassment without violence at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court this week.

The court heard that Brannan subjected the victim to repeated verbal attacks between February 4 and September 30 last year.

Despite receiving a community protection notice in July, the 32-year-old continued her behaviour towards the woman.

Prosecutor Holly Clegg told magistrates that footage from the victim’s Ring doorbell captured Brannan hurling insults including “trampy,” “a silly little sod” and “fat c**t”, Chronicle Live reports.

On one occasion, Brannan was filmed raising her middle finger at the camera, the court heard.

The harassment led to the victim temporarily leaving her home.

The court was told that Brannan made violent threats against her neighbour during the campaign, including saying “I’ll kick her f**king head in”.

Matthew Purves, representing Brannan, told the court his client had no prior criminal record.

The defence solicitor said there was more to the situation, describing “a complex back and forth between the two” parties, according to Chronicle Live.

Brannan is due to return to Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on January 23 for sentencing.

Doorbell camera footage can be used to aid police investigations, with officers frequently appealing to the public to submit recordings.

GETTY

In one recent case, three men were jailed for life after a grandfather was shot through his living room window in a murder caught on a doorbell camera.

Barry Dawson, 60, was fatally shot at his home in County Durham on April 5 last year.

Ringleader Sean Reay, 30, and associates Kelvin Lawson, 38, and Thomas Sterling, 22, were convicted following a trial at Teesside Crown Court which concluded in October.

The trio were sentenced last month.

Gunman Reay, of Sabin Terrace in Stanley, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 32 years.

Lawson, of Frosterley Gardens, also in Stanley, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 28 years.

Sterling, of The Avenue, Stanley, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 26 years.

The shocking doorbell footage caught the shooting, with Mr Dawson’s son shouting: “They shot my dad.”
