Christmas chaos erupted on an East Midlands street as four people have been arrested after reports of a fight and a gun being fired.

Emergency services were called to reports that a teenager had been assaulted in Bradwell Lea, Gamesley, at about 4.20pm.

The man, believed to be in his late teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and remains there in a serious condition.

A second man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his abdomen after attending Glossop Police Station shortly after the assault was reported.

It confirmed three men and a woman had been arrested in connection with the assault, after armed officers attended a property in Hollins Lane, Gamesley in North West Derbyshire.

While there were no other injuries, officers are encouraging any eyewitnesses to come forward.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “CCTV from the scene shows what appears to be a firearm being discharged.

“However, there have been no gunshot injuries to either of the men that are in hospital and it is not believed that anyone has been injured by a firearm.”

The spokesman continued: “Four people, three men and a woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident following armed officers attending a property in Hollins Close, Gamesley.

“At this time, it is believed that all those involved in the incident have been detained.

“While the investigation is in its early stages, it is believed that the victims and suspects are known to one another and there is no wider risk to the public from those involved.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular anyone with CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage.”
