Thomas Markle is “hooked up to all kinds of machines” after being rushed to the hospital in the Philippines, his son has revealed.
The retired lighting director was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after suffering a medical emergency at home.
He undertook three hours of surgery on Wednesday, but his son, Thomas Markle Jr, has revealed the state his father is now in.
He revealed: “I went to see Dad today. He is heavily medicated on painkillers and other drugs.

“He is hooked up to all kinds of machines. He’s pretty much out of it.
“The doctors say he is stable, which is good news. He is a brave man and a fighter.
“The whole family is grateful for the outpouring of love and well-wishes from people around the globe, particularly from Britain.
“We thank everyone for their support and ask that you keep sending positive thoughts for Dad’s recovery,” he told the Daily Mail.
Mr Markle’s other daughter, Samantha, said: “We are all hoping and praying that Dad pulls through.
“He has a long journey of recovery ahead of him.”
Thomas Jr has said the family has heard nothing from the Sussex family.
He added: “I would implore Meghan and Harry to reach out to Dad.”
The 81-year-old has been estranged from his Meghan Markle since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
Thomas Jr revealed on Wednesday that: “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger.
“They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the centre of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery. I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts.”
Samantha believes the strain of the last few years had taken its toll and added to his fragility.
She claimed: “He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this.

“My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this,” she told the Mail.
Mr Markle has been struggling with his health for numerous years, suffering two heart attacks on the night before Meghan’s wedding, preventing him from getting on a plane from Los Angeles to London.
King Charles walked the Duchess of Sussex partway down the aisle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, something Mr Markle said: “was the most gracious and kind thing to do. I shall be forever in his debt.”
