Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman says the Latics are “building something” after they continued their recent good run of form by beating Burton Albion.

Athletic moved up to 11th, three points off the play-off places, thanks to a 1-0 victory over the Brewers in Tuesday’s solitary League One fixture.

The result means they have now gone eight games unbeaten in 90 minutes in all competitions.

“There’s some wins, some draws, we know we can do better, we’ve got a few injuries and a sickness bug going round but we’ve won so happy days,” McManaman told Radio Manchester.

“We’re building something and we all need to stick together because we’re eight unbeaten now.”

Wigan’s more positive streak comes after a torrid run of five defeats from six games in September and October.

McManaman, in his third stint with the club, was a late substitute in the win and said the squad owe boss Ryan Lowe for the positivity he has brought in of late.

“He’s brilliant, he’s honest, he says it how it is – that’s what we need and he’s been good so we just need to stick together and keep going and keep getting more wins,” McManaman added.

“There’s still a lot of games to play and points to play for. The gaffer has been brilliant so we need to keep getting wins for him and being positive because it’s a long season.”
