Meghan Markle has admitted to making “mistakes” throughout her life, as the duchess spoke about the “boundaries” she set since entering the royal spotlight.

The Duchess of Sussex spoke to journalist Kaitlyn Greenidge about a range of topics as Meghan promoted her upcoming Netflix programme.

The 44-year-old explained that throughout her career and life, she has always been willing to try, even if unsuccessful.

“You learn not to do it again. If it all goes swimmingly, you don’t learn from it. If you don’t learn anything, you’re not going to grow,” Meghan explained to the journalist from Harper’s Bazaar.

The duchess continued: “I’m a mum with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new.

“I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day. But you can remember and say, ‘I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that’s going to come so easily soon.’

“I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There’s no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes.”

Since entering the royal world, Meghan explained she has put up more “boundaries” given the increased publicity.

She said: “I think my boundaries became stronger once I came into the public eye in this very…” as the duchess paused and pulled a face at the journalist.

Meghan continued: “I could think of any adjective to fill the blank. And it would probably work.

“You find different ways to protect yourself, whether that’s self-preservation or it’s just growing up.”

The mother of two shared that the number of people she trusts is very small, as she put her hand on her heart when discussing her husband, Prince Harry.

The duchess said: “He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t.

“No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back.”

During their encounters, Ms Greenidge documented various notable occurrences that appeared to be deliberate staging choices.

These included formal royal-style introductions in near-empty settings and unexpected theatrical gestures at high-profile venues.

During their meeting in New York, the house manager made a formal proclamation of “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” upon Ms Greenidge’s arrival, despite the apparent absence of any audience beyond the journalist herself.

Ms Greenidge wrote: “When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’, even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house”, noting her bewilderment at the ceremonial introduction.

The grand residence belonged to an unnamed acquaintance of the Duchess of Sussex, serving as one of multiple venues for their discussions about her forthcoming Netflix project.

Netflix’s “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration” is scheduled for release on December 3.
