Princess Kate appeared on the balcony for the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph today, less than 24 hours after attending the Festival of Remembrance with Prince George.

The Princess of Wales watched the ceremony from the centre balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office building alongside Queen Camilla.

The balcony overlooks the Cenotaph, where King Charles, Prince William and Prince Edward led the nation’s tributes to those who have lost their lives in conflict.

Princess Kate observed the two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths below.

Her presence formed part of the annual national act of remembrance, bringing together members of the Royal Family with veterans, serving personnel, and representatives of the armed forces community.

Her participation today followed her appearance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening, where she attended the Festival of Remembrance with Prince George.

The 12-year-old joined his mother for the commemorative event, marking the first time he has been present at a major remembrance ceremony.

Prince William did not attend the festival this year as he was returning from official engagements in Brazil.

During the festival, Prince George sat to Kate’s right in the royal box, while King Charles sat on her left.

The pair were seen exchanging small smiles and brief, quiet conversations before sitting respectfully throughout the performances and reflections.

The festival included musical tributes from Sir Rod Stewart and testimonies honouring the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces.

The Festival of Remembrance is organised annually by the Royal British Legion and forms a central part of the remembrance weekend, leading directly into today’s national commemorations at the Cenotaph.

Princess Kate and Prince George’s appearance together last night was noted as a gentle introduction to remembrance duties for the future heir, reflecting the steady, considered approach the Royal Family has taken in gradually preparing the young prince for future public roles.

The National Service of Remembrance remains one of the most significant fixtures in the royal calendar.

The King led the country in laying wreaths, followed by senior members of the Royal Family, political leaders and representatives of the Commonwealth and armed forces.

Today’s balcony appearance continued Princess Kate’s longstanding involvement in remembrance commemorations, linking the solemnity of the Cenotaph ceremony with the quieter, reflective tone of the previous evening’s gathering at the Royal Albert Hall.
