Zia Yusuf has defended the “close relationship” between Nigel Farage and President Donald Trump, after Camilla Tominey wondered whether the bond was “looking a bit embarrassing”.

The GB News host cited some of the US leaders’ most explosive remarks and social media posts amid increasing global turmoil.

“Everyone knows that one can be friends with somebody without agreeing with them on all matters, particularly when it comes to politics,” the Reform Home Affairs spokesman said.

“Nigel has taken a stance in direct contradiction with certain things that have come out of the administration at the right time.

“Now, what I will say about Trump, look, President Trump is doing what he believes is in the best interests of the American people, and that’s what he’s making these decisions through.

“We need leadership in this country that is making decisions through one lens and one lens only. And that is what is in the interest of the British people,” he told Camilla.
