Zara Tindall’s long-running relationship with Magic Millions has been highlighted once again after her husband, Mike Tindall, used his public platform to promote the latest stage of the Queensland Off The Track Cup, a major showjumping series for retired racehorses.

The post, which featured a photograph of Zara riding, showed the opening of entries for the New South Wales qualifier scheduled for December 14 at the Sydney Summer Classic.

The Tindalls’ connection to Magic Millions stretches back more than a decade.

The annual Gold Coast carnival, which blends equestrian sport with high-profile events and thoroughbred sales, has become a fixture in their calendar.

The couple first visited the event shortly after their marriage, and have since described Australia as a place where they feel instantly at home.

Each January, the married couple leave the UK after spending Christmas with the royals in Sandringham, and jet off to sunny Australia.

For Zara, an Olympic medallist and one of Britain’s most accomplished equestrians, the event offers both competition and community.

For Mike, it represents a chance to support his wife’s career while engaging with the sporting world he has embraced since retiring from rugby.

The Queensland Off The Track Cup is one of Magic Millions’ more recent initiatives and has quickly grown in prominence.

The series is designed specifically for off-the-track thoroughbreds, giving racehorses a structured pathway into second careers.

Riders must compete on retired racers that have been retrained for showjumping, with qualifiers taking place across several Australian states.

Those who succeed earn a place in the final, which forms part of the Magic Millions Polo and Showjumping programme on the Gold Coast each January.

LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS

The 2026 final carries a prize pool of 100,000 Australian dollars, a significant draw for competitors.

Zara has previously ridden in the final, further cementing her association with the initiative. She has long advocated for giving retired racehorses meaningful second careers, and her involvement brings clear benefits to the programme.

Featuring Zara in promotional material is more than symbolic. Her presence connects elite equestrian sport with the practical realities of retraining horses, and her royal profile ensures the campaign reaches audiences far beyond the specialist equestrian world.

Mike’s decision to promote the New South Wales qualifier continues that pattern. While he is not a rider himself, he frequently uses his platform to support causes and events linked to Zara’s sporting life.

By sharing the announcement, he helps attract attention to a competition that depends on strong entries from riders who work with off-the-track thoroughbreds.

The timing of the post, arriving weeks before the December qualifier, is intended to encourage riders to register before the final opportunity to secure a spot in January’s final.

The New South Wales qualifier will take place at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, where competitors will attempt to secure one of the remaining places in the QOTT Cup Final. With riders already qualified from Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, the field is expected to be strong.

For Magic Millions, the involvement of the Tindalls remains invaluable. Their annual appearance on the Gold Coast has become one of the most photographed moments of the event, and their continued support bolsters the visibility of a campaign focused on welfare, training and sporting excellence.
