Zara Tindall has beaten both the Princess of Wales and Princess Beatrice to claim a coveted spot on Tatler’s 2025 list of the best-dressed people in Britain.
The society bible unveiled its annual top 10 today, with the theme appearing to focus on glamorous celebrity “nepo babies”, placing Princess Andre in second and crowning half-sisters Lady Lola Bute and Jazzy de Lisser in joint first.
Noticeably absent from the list was Kate, who previously topped the ranking in 2022.
But Zara, 44, was recognised for her consistently polished style and placed seventh overall, joining the likes of Princess Alexia of the Netherlands, who came fifth.

Tatler wrote of Zara: “Riding with polish and dressing with panache, Princess Anne’s daughter is a vision on and off the horse.
“Her recent wardrobe hits have been nothing short of spectacular, from the perfect Rebecca Vallance tea dresses at Ascot to the tailored Fairfax & Favor pieces at Badminton.”
Zara’s appearance at Royal Ascot with her husband Mike in June is believed to have cemented her place on the list, with the couple attending all five days of the Berkshire racing festival.
The 44-year-old stepped out in a romantic blue lace dress by Rebecca Vallance, a floral number from Anna Mason, and a striking monochrome look by Laura Green.

She joins a high-flying group in this year’s ranking. Princess Alexia, the middle daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, also made the cut after moving to London last September to study at University College London.
To be included, Tatler says one must “exude timeless elegance and that modern je ne sais quoi.”
Last year, Princess Beatrice claimed the top spot, 13 years after her infamous appearance at the Prince and Princess of Wales’s wedding in 2011, where her Philip Treacy hat sparked a wave of online memes.
Tatler praised Beatrice in 2024 as “a beacon of sartorial elegance” who “paired vintage-inspired cuts with fresh-from-the-catwalk glamour,” although it acknowledged she had once been “the subject of much jest” over her headpiece.

Princess Alexia of the Netherlands also made the list
It’s been reported that both Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, were brought to tears by criticism of their outfits at the royal wedding. But in recent years, the York sisters have transformed their style and public image.
Beatrice, in particular, has refined her look, combining seasonal pieces with trusted wardrobe staples. After years of experimentation, she has now embraced a consistent style that leans into luxury fashion.
Labels such as Self-Portrait, Beulah and The Vampire’s Wife have become staples, while international designers like Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier feature heavily in her wardrobe. The move towards streamlined elegance marks a shift from her earlier, more eclectic choices.
Much of the credit is due to her stylist, Olivia Buckingham, who also works with Poppy Delevingne and Nicky Hilton.

“I like to push my clients’ boundaries but also stick to their authentic codes,” Olivia previously told the Mail. “I don’t want it to be one-sided. What I enjoy is giving them creative freedom, then we meet in the middle and come up with a magical look.”
Princess Eugenie has also reflected on the pair’s fashion evolution. Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast, she said: “There’s been terrible, ugly shots of us coming out of bars. People come up to me and say, ‘You’re much better looking in real life.’ Beatrice and I, like many of our cousins, have had really awkward phases. I’m proud of my incredibly strange looks.”
Over the years, the Tatler list has featured several royal women. Meghan Markle topped the chart in 2018, the year she married Prince Harry, while Lady Eliza and Amelia Spencer shared the crown in 2021. Annabel Elliot, Queen Camilla’s sister, ranked fifth this year.
Even the late Queen Elizabeth II made the list in 2018, placing 27th. Lady Amelia Windsor, meanwhile, reached as high as second place in 2019 and was 12th in 2021.
