Zara Larsson has raged at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) and the Trump administration following the death of a 37-year-old who was fatally shot by an agent in Minneapolis this week.

The death of Renee Good has sparked fierce debate across the US, with conflicting accounts being put forward by both sides of the political sphere as to what led to her killing.

Vice President JD Vance, for instance, has insisted the Ice agent acted in self-defence, while Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey told agents to “get the f*** out of Minneapolis” and disputed the administration’s claims that Ms Good was a “domestic terrorist”.

Ms Larsson, who is best known for reaching number one in the UK charts alongside Clean Bandit with Symphony, took to Instagram on Saturday to voice her opposition to the Trump administration and make her position on the fallout crystal clear.

The Swedish singer began by listing “things she likes”, which included “immigrants, criminals, trans people, abortions, queers, s****y women, contraception, welfare, and socialism”.

She ended the list with the quote: “I f***ing hate ICE.”

After receiving inevitable backlash, Ms Larsson returned to the platform to address the direct messages she’d received about the controversial list.

“People in my DM are like ‘aahhhh criminals?!?!?!’ Girl YES, heavy on that s**t,” she replied, before explaining one of the reasons was because her “sweet, loving, kind, caring, compassionate, smart, generous, talented, thoughtful” partner wasn’t allowed in the USA.

Ms Larsson went on to rant that her partner was barred from entering the USA for a drug-related offence six years earlier.

“We spend months and months apart every year because of a little spliff over 6 years ago. I’m not saying it should be legal… wait… yes I am – but that’s another conversation,” she bemoaned.

She continued her rant by claiming that she would rather “have someone smoking crack on my couch than a f***ing ICE agent”, branding them “killing, kidnapping, violent, and hateful criminals”.

Ms Larsson’s social media tirade didn’t end there. Her verbal attack on Ice went on as she mused whether agents suffered from a mix of “toxic masculinity, a frail ego, fear of people and low IQ”.

In yet another post, the singer suggested Ice agents had been “groomed by white supremacy and toxic masculinity” and that “they now fall in line to execute the hate they’ve been told is the truth, when it’s really just an ideology they’re using as a blanket cause they’re scared and lame”.

The outburst has sparked a wave of bemused reactions from social media users, with X flooded with people questioning the quotes.

Reacting to a pop culture account that reposted the Instagram rants, one X user questioned: “What is actually wrong with Liberal and Leftist White Women? Why do they stand with, and openly support, Violent Criminals… Do they have NO Survival Instincts whatsoever???”

“Easy to love what doesn’t affect your tax bracket,” a second mocked while a third weighed in: “I love Zara Larsson so much, but her political views sometimes…”

Meanwhile, a fourth exposed the ludicrousness of the post: “What about criminals who commited a crime against trans people? Or trans people who work at ICE? Or an ICE officer who’s a s****y woman? She loves or hates them? Lmfao some celebs will say the most stupid s**t for applause.”

“We know you love criminals, thank you for saying the quiet part out loud,” a fifth weighed in before a sixth also fumed: “So in summary she is a psycho liberal.” (sic)

However, Ms Larsson was on the receiving end of plenty of support from her fans who also strongly opposed Ice.

Ms Larsson’s social media posts came as protests continued to spread across the US, condemning Ms Good’s death.

In Minneapolis, protests resulted in a number of demonstrators being detained due to physical altercations with law enforcement.

An investigation has been launched by the FBI into the shooting, although Minnesota state officials have claimed they are being blocked from assisting.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has insisted that Minnesota’s authorities have “no jurisdiction” within the investigation.

However, the state’s governor, Tim Walz, has insisted that the state “must be a part of this investigation”.
