Prince Julian of Sweden was spotted with a cast on his arm at a family gathering this week.
Sweden’s royal household convened at their beloved summer retreat on Tuesday, Solliden Palace on the island of Öland, to mark Crown Princess Victoria’s 49th birthday.
The annual gathering, known as “Victoriadagen,” took place on July 14 at the Borgholm residence, where well-wishers traditionally serenade the heir to the throne.
A fresh family portrait, released by the royal house on July 15, captured all three generations together following a concert at the Borgholm Castle ruins.
The photo was captioned: “Happy Summertime!”
Yet it was five-year-old Prince Julian who drew particular attention in the photograph, his right arm wrapped in a striking blue plaster cast.
Margareta Thorgren, who serves as Director of the Information and Press Department for the Swedish royal family, addressed the young prince’s injury when speaking to Svensk Damtidning.
She confirmed that Prince Julian “has a small crack in his arm.”

When asked about the circumstances surrounding the mishap, Thorgren offered a characteristically understated explanation.
“Children and play, things that can happen,” she remarked.
The minor fracture appears not to have dampened the youngster’s spirits during the birthday festivities, with the five-year-old joining his older brothers at the front of the formal family portrait despite his injury.
The young prince is no stranger to capturing public attention, having previously charmed viewers during King Carl Gustaf’s milestone 80th birthday celebrations in April.

In the portrait, King Carl XVI Gustaf, 80, and Queen Silvia, 82, occupy the central position, flanked by their children and grandchildren.
Crown Princess Victoria stands alongside her husband Prince Daniel, 52, and their two children, Princess Estelle, 14, and Prince Oscar, 10.
Princess Madeleine, 44, appears with her husband Christopher O’Neill and daughters Princess Leonore, 12, and Princess Adrienne, 8.
Prince Carl Philip, 47, and Princess Sofia complete the arrangement, with Sofia cradling one-year-old Princess Ines.
The three sons of Carl Philip and Sofia — Prince Alexander, 10, Prince Gabriel, 8, and Prince Julian — stood prominently at the front, smartly attired in coordinating green jackets, though Julian’s was draped over his injured arm.
As the entire royal family assembled on the balcony of the Royal Palace in Stockholm to observe tributes from the Swedish Armed Forces, including the changing of the guard and an aerial flypast, Julian provided an unexpected highlight.
Despite being barely tall enough to peer over the railing, the youngster delighted onlookers with spontaneous dance moves as the Royal Swedish Marching Band performed below.
The moment quickly went viral, cementing Julian’s reputation as the family’s most entertaining young member.
