Emergency services were called to Pine Crescent in East Kilbride

A woman was hit with a harmful substance in what police say was a targeted attack in a housing estate in East Kilbride.

Officers were called to the scene on Pine Crescent at about 10:55 on Friday.

The 30-year-old woman was checked over by emergency services but she was not seriously injured and did not require hospital treatment.

Police Scotland said extensive inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the force’s non-emergency line.

There is currently no description of the attacker.

Local media reported that an underpass in the area was sealed off.
