A man has been arrested after a 24-year-old woman was killed and a man in his 20s was injured during a double stabbing in west London, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police were called to a property on Uxbridge Road, Hayes at around 7.55am this morning following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, and found a 24-year-old woman with stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A man, aged in his 20s, was also found outside the property with stab injuries, with police yet to issue an update on his current condition.

Officers quickly located a 44-year-old man matching the suspect’s description nearby, who was then arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be caused after jumping from a window.

A cordon was established early this morning, as emergency services dealt with those injured at the horrific scene.

Video footage circulating on social media appears to show an air ambulance responding to the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said: “This is a shocking incident which has tragically resulted in one woman losing her life and another man in hospital with injuries.

“Our thoughts at this time are with both victims and their loved ones, who are being supported by specialist officers.

“Our enquiries are in the early stages but we do not believe there to be any wider threat to the public.
