A long-delayed defence investment plan has been published, with Sir Keir Starmer announced an additional £15bn in funding for the armed forces.

This is the largest increase in defence spending since the Cold War in the 1980s, with £270bn earmarked for defence over the next four years.

However, the spending has also faced criticism for falling short of the UK’s increased defence needs.

Security correspondent Frank Gardner analysis the government’s announcement and whether how it fulfils the UK’s defence needs.
