Country music icon Carrie Underwood is today almost unrecognisable from her time on American Idol almost two decades ago — where she famously beat Bo Bice.
After performing at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square, social media erupted, branding her glow-up ‘stunning’ and ‘drop dead gorgeous’.
But others accused the Before He Cheats songstress, 41, of having too much plastic surgery.
‘You don’t even look like Carrie!’ one wrote. ‘Quit the plastic surgery already,’ another said.
‘How much surgery has she had since then?’ a third questioned.
The star — who joined American Idol as a judge last year — has been open about undergoing surgery after she suffered a nasty fall in 2017 that left her needing more than 40 stiches in her face.
However, she has never admitted to cosmetic work and exactly what the surgery entailed.
But experts have now weighed in, suggesting that Carrie’s face bears the hallmarks of a range of procedures.

Dr Daniel Barrett, a Beverly Hills based plastic surgeon said he suspects the singer — who is married to retired hockey player Mike Fisher — has had a nose job, lip filler and Botox
Dr Daniel Barrett, a Beverly Hills based plastic surgeon, said he suspects the singer — who is married to retired hockey player Mike Fisher — has had a nose job, lip filler and Botox.
In a TikTok video, seen more than 313,000 times, he said: ‘If you look at the nose, there’s more of a swoop and pinched tip which could indicate a possible rhinoplasty.
‘The lips for sure in my opinion look like they’ve had some work done.’
‘I love Carrie Underwood but this is my unbiased opinion of what she’s had done.’
A rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a nose job, involves an operation either performed from inside the nostrils — a closed rhinoplasty — or by making a small cut on the nose.
By breaking and repositioning the side nasal bone, a surgeon can also reduce the width of the nose and achieve a narrower appearance.
‘The other thing is her cheeks are looking pretty full and her forehead is completely flat,’ Dr Barrett said.
‘She’s probably had some sort of Botox or a little bit of filler in the cheeks.’

Anti-wrinkle injections like Botox relax the muscles in the face to smooth out lines and wrinkles.
‘I think the chin looks great,’ he added.
‘But if you look back at her previous photos, her chin is pretty prominent there too so I don’t think she’s had a chin implant.’
Stacy Silverman, a nurse practitioner injector from Northbrook in Illinois, meanwhile, told her TikTok followers Carrie had likely had cheek and lip filler as well as Botox.
‘I think she has also had her nasolabial folds done,’ she added. ‘I absolutely love her and she is flawless.’
Nasolabial folds — also known as ‘smile lines’ or ‘laugh lines’ — naturally develop as you grow older or frequently use your facial muscles for smiling or laughing.
Treatment to minimise their appearance can include dermal filler, laser treatment or chemical peels.
In 2017, Carrie opened up about undergoing surgery after suffering a nasty fall on the steps outside her home in Nashville while walking her dogs late at night.

Despite her fall required surgery around her mouth area, dental specialists speculated she had not had any extensive dental work. Pictured, Carrie in 2018
After the accident, which resulted in 40 stitches in her face and a broken wrist, the Oklahoma-born singer admitted she felt forced to speak out to avoid being accused of having plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.
She told the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2018: ‘I feel like I do [look different] a little bit. My biggest worry at the time was like, if I say nothing then later on… I feel like people are gonna say, ‘What has she done to herself electively?’
‘And it definitely was not a choice. I feel close to myself. I feel pretty close to normal.’
In the same year, the Grammy award winner addressed the rumors that she has gotten a ‘nose job’ or ‘other work done’ on her face, according to USA Today.
She said: ‘The truth is just as interesting I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this (scar) look better, but I try not to worry too much about it.’
Despite her fall required surgery around her mouth area, dental specialists speculated she had not had any extensive dental work.
US-based prosthodontist Dr Sara Hahn, told her 156,000 TikTok followers: ‘It looks like she possibly had some bleaching done.
‘I know she fell and had scarring on her face but it doesn’t seem like her teeth were affected. These are her natural teeth.
‘You can see the translucency the teeth have that lets light shine through.
‘This makes teeth look like teeth. It’s really hard to do that with veneers because they are a different material. This is a stunning smile.’
