Wendy Williams fans have blasted her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, after the star shockingly revealed details of her conservatorship and said she felt like she is ‘in prison.’
The TV personality, 60 – who has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia – called into The Breakfast Club on Thursday to open up about suffering ’emotional abuse.’
The former talk show host insisted to hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Jess Hilarious that she is not ‘cognitively impaired’ and is ‘trapped’ at a facility in the state of New York.
Williams also said on the radio show that she has only $15 and that Morrissey took her old phone away, leaving her with one where she can only make calls – and not receive any.
At one point, Wendy – who was placed under the guardianship in 2022 – broke down in tears and was joined by her niece, Alex Finnie, for support.
Not long after the interview, social media users jumped to X to share their thoughts – with some calling for the #FreeWendy movement.

During her call on the radio show, Williams pled for her freedom and opened up about the facility she is staying at in New York.
‘I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison,’ the star said. ‘I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.’
‘I am definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea. I keep the door closed.’
Wendy added, ‘I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.’
Her niece, Alex, also joined in on the call and further explained that Williams has ‘a bed, a chair, a TV, a bathroom and she’s looking out one window at buildings across the street.’
‘She’s there every day, all hours of the day, every week, every month, she’s not getting proper sunlight,’ Alex added.
‘I went to New York in October to visit her. And the level of security and the level of questions that there were in terms of, “Who am I? Why am I here? What’s the purpose?” I mean, it was absolutely just horrible.’
It was also revealed that Wendy cannot receive any calls, and also does not have any access to the internet or laptop.

The TV personality expressed that she has spent her last three birthdays alone at the facility and stated, ‘This is what is called emotional abuse.’
‘They won’t allow you to leave or have visitors. So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members.’
Williams became emotional as she expressed her wishes to be with her father for his 94th birthday next month in February.
‘I don’t know if I’m going to be able to see my dad on his 94th birthday. The day after that is not promise,’ the star tearfully told the radio hosts.
Her niece defended Wendy on the call and explained, ‘Anybody that knows my aunt knows she’s always been a unique personality. How she’s talking, that’s her. That’s who she is. Don’t try to twist how she is.’
The topic of the Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? – which aired last year in 2024 – was also brought up.
Morrissey filed a lawsuit against the network in order to prevent the series from being released, but Lifetime and A&E countersued.
Wendy expressed, ‘She was the one who wanted to do that, you understand what I’m saying? What do I think about being abused? Look, this system is broken, this system that I’m in. This system has falsified a lot.’

Late last year, Morrissey filed documents which described Williams as ‘cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.’
At one point during the interview, Williams questioned, ‘Do I seem that way, God d**n it?’
She also revealed that she only has $15, and claimed her cats are ‘gone’ – even though she ‘wants them with’ her.
Last month in December, Wendy made a rare public appearance as she attended her son Kevin Jr.’s college graduation in Florida.
Afterwards, she was seen having a heated argument with her caretakers after a celebratory dinner in Miami.
Her son also gave an update on his mother’s health in December after her guardian claimed she was ‘permanently incapacitated.’

Radio and television personality Charlamagne Tha God congratulated Kevin Jr. on his graduation on Instagram that began with Wendy looking healthy and happy.
Kevin Jr. took to the comment section to reply: ‘Thank you fam! [three prayer hand emojis] Let’s get her home [fingers crossed emoji],’ and later shed a little more light on what Wendy has been going through.
He added, ‘While I’m here quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home. We’re fighting to make that happen because Isolation is killing her faster than anything else.’
The star’s dementia diagnosis in 2023 came one year after she was placed under a court-ordered legal guardianship that oversees both her finances and health.
