Rachel Reeves has been dubbed a “dementor who has sapped all hope and confidence” out of the country, a journalist has told GB News.

Calling her “worse than the Grinch”, Opinion and Features Editor at City AM Alys Denby delivered a scathing response to the Chancellor’s Budget for deterring shoppers from the high street and undermining confidence in the economy.

She said: “Rachel Reeves is worse than The Grinch Stole Christmas. I think she’s a sort of dementor who sapped all hope and confidence out of the economy.

“Anyone who runs a small business will tell you that they’re being absolutely hammered by the combination of National Insurance rises, business rates and this huge raft of new employment legislation coming in along with the rise in the minimum wage, making it harder and harder to run a business.

“Consumers are voting with their feet.

“They know that more tax rises are coming, and they’re not spending money in the same quantities as they normally do in this most crucial month of December, which is when many shops will make money that keeps them going for the rest of the year.

“It’s an absolute disaster.”
