Amazon wants to buy your old Android tablet. And it’ll even accept a broken unit.

This is your sign to have a clear out — dig out your old tablet, send it back to the nearest Amazon warehouse, and you’ll unlock up to 80% off the newest Fire HD tablets. That’s because Amazon will add an extra 20% off its sale prices when you send an older tablet back to the company for it to refurbish or recycle.

The latest sale, which follows a series of blockbuster Black Friday discounts from Amazon, was already one of the most affordable ways to pocket one of these tablets — but with trade-in, these Android gadgets have reached a new low.

Fire HD tablets are one of the many types of tech gadgets designed by Amazon. They let you stream entertainment, browse the web, play games, stay connected through video calls, use helpful Alexa features and enjoy apps, reading and productivity tools — all in one portable device.

If you’ve been needing a new tablet for a while or are shopping for someone special this Christmas, then this could be the perfect item to add to your basket.

These are the prices for the latest Fire tablet lineup:

If you’re looking to tap into these deals, they’ll only be around for a limited time.

Send in your old tablet and upgrade to a Fire HD 8 tablet for under £20

Get the Fire HD 8 tablet for less than £20 when you trade in your old device. It features a bright 8″ HD display ideal for streaming, gaming and staying entertained anywhere. With 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and up to 13 hours of battery life, it’s built for everyday tasks and all-day use. You can enjoy thousands of apps through Amazon’s Appstore, ask Alexa-enabled commands, stream your favourite shows, read books via the Kindle app, and more.

And if you have an Amazon Prime membership, this new tablet can be yours in under a day.

Fire HD 8 tablet

If you need a new tablet to complete your everyday tasks, then the Fire HD 8 tablet may be the best option.

Its vibrant 8″ HD display is designed to deliver crisp visuals for streaming shows, playing games and browsing your favourite apps.

Equipped with 3 GB of RAM — 50% more than its prior model — it’s set to offer smoother performance, while 32 GB of storage (expandable up to 1 TB) ensures plenty of room for all your apps, downloads, and media. All apps like the Amazon Kindle app, Candy Crush, and more can be downloaded via the US retailer’s very own app store.

If you still need more storage, though, it’s also available with 64GB for only £40 when you trade in your old device.

Enjoy up to 13 hours of reading, watching videos, web browsing and listening to music throughout the day on a single charge. You can even capture memorable moments with the 2 MP rear and front camera with 1080 HD video recording, or stay connected through video calls using Alexa or apps like Zoom.

With voice-enabled Alexa built in, you can play music, check the weather, control smart home devices and manage your daily tasks hands-free.

You can read all your favourite books on the Fire HD tablets when you download the Kindle app from the Amazon Appstore

However, if you’re looking for a larger display screen, faster charging battery, and higher quality camera, then the Fire HD 10 could end up being the better choice.

This specific model still sports a 13-hour battery life, but will only need up to four hours for a complete recharge, whereas the HD 8 needs up to five hours.

In terms of camera, it boasts a 5MP front and rear lens for memory capture and video calls.

As its name suggests, the 10 also has a 2.1″ bigger display screen.

The Fire HD 10 is on sale for £50 when you trade in your old device.

Send in your old tablet and upgrade to a Fire Max 11 tablet

The Fire Max 11 features a vivid 11″ display with 2.4 million pixels for streaming movies, shows, and playing games. Powered by an octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and Wi-Fi 6, it’s smooth, fast and reliable for your everyday activities. With up to 14 hours of battery life, a durable aluminium design and access to Alexa, video calls and family features, it’s an ideal option for work too.

Fire Max 11 tablet

The Fire Max 11 is the all-singing, all-dancing model that’s known for its more premium features. It has an 11″ display, featuring 2.4 million pixels and low blue light certification for comfortable viewing.

Its powerful octa-core processor, 4 GB memory and Wi-Fi 6 are built in to ensure fast streaming, responsive gaming and seamless multitasking across different apps.

Built with a sleek aluminium frame and strengthened glass, the tablet is designed for durability—tested to be three times as tough as the iPad 10.9″ (10th generation).

With up to 14 hours of battery life, it supports full days of reading, browsing, watching videos and listening to music. You can also choose between 64 GB or 128 GB of storage for your apps and downloads.

For video calls and memory capture, it boasts an 8 MP front and rear camera — the highest quality out of all the models.

If you also have a child using the tablet, you can initiate parental controls and grant access to Amazon Kids+. This is a digital subscription for kids that will give you access to thousands of books, games, videos, and more for only £4.99 per month.

If you’re buying a new Fire Max 11 tablet, you can also get a matching keyboard and stylus to pair with, which could be beneficial for work or school
