Two police officers have suffered serious injuries after a “deliberate and despicable attack” involving a van.

The incident took place in Larkhall, southeast of Glasgow at about 2:10pm yesterday.


Both male officers, aged 43 and 41, have been taken to hospital.

The 41-year-old has since been released, while the 43-year-old continues to receive treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said that officers were carrying out inquiries at a property on Glen Avenue.

They added that a white Renault Trafic van was deliberately driven at them.

Police have called the attack an attempted murder.

No others were injured in the incident.

The van used in the ramming was later recovered in Kirkstyle Place, Glassford.

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said: “This was a deliberate and despicable attack on two officers who were simply carrying out their duties.”

Police have appealed for information while the investigation continues.

The suspect was described as a 6ft tall white male.
