Two people have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after an arson attack on a memorial wall in Golders Green.
The memorial wall, which pays tribute to Iranian protesters who have been killed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), escaped damage in the incident.
A 46-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested this morning and taken to a London police station.
Both remain in custody following their arrest at a Romford address, which is currently being searched by officers.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the pair of arrests are part of their ongoing Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) investigation after the attack on a memorial wall in Limes Avenue, north London, on Monday.
Investigations into the attack, which took place at 12.15am on April 27, continue while police continue to assess the situation.
Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: “We are committed to protecting vulnerable communities in the capital.
“Detectives have been conducting extensive inquiries since this incident was reported to us last week and these two arrests are the result of that hard work.”

Commander Flanagan added: “CTP London is working on a number of investigations into incidents that have taken place in north west London since the attack on Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green in March.”
So far, the CTP have made a total of 30 arrests and nine people have been charged.
Locals claim the police initially told them the fire was started by a candle that had fallen over, but Ali Vahedi, who helps to look after the wall, says that wasn’t possible as the candles are blown out every night.
Mr Vahedi told GB News: “They took 4 hours to check the cameras on the building opposite to realise it wasn’t from the candles.
“Then they took it seriously, but this is too late.”
Police added that the investigation into the arson attack continues.
