Two more people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 21-year-old man was shot in the street in Trafford.

The men, aged 21 and 28, were detained earlier after an 18-year-old was arrested on Monday on suspicion of the same offence, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Their arrests come after the 21-year-old man, who is in a stable but critical condition in hospital, was shot on Higher Road, in Urmston on Friday

“These additional arrests mark meaningful progress and send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated,” Det Ch Insp Justin Bryant.

“I want to reassure our communities that we believe this to be an isolated incident which poses no further risk to the public,” Det Ch Insp Bryant added.

“Along with the arrests made today, we will have an increased number of patrols in the area to enhance safety and visibility.

“We encourage anyone with concerns or queries to approach our officers, who will be more than happy to support.”
