TutorExtra has made its extensive database of more than 650 UK exam boards and qualifications publicly accessible, enabling users to narrow down tutor searches by awarding bodies such as AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

The updated directory features major regulators including Pearson (Edexcel), AQA, OCR and WJEC Eduqas, as well as Scotland’s SQA and international providers like the IB and Cambridge Assessment.

Ofqual, the national exams regulator, maintains oversight of four principal boards for GCSEs and A-levels in England, ensuring consistent assessment standards. TutorExtra’s filtering system draws from active tutor profiles to match users with specialists experienced in board-specific formats, spanning multiple-choice papers, exam structures and coursework components.

Illustrations range from GCSE Maths under Edexcel, where more than 500 tutors are currently listed, to A-level Chemistry with OCR, where educators can guide students through revision methods tailored to practical endorsement requirements. The platform also caters to vocational qualifications such as BTEC and to CCEA qualifications in Northern Ireland, capturing the full range of UK assessment pathways.

The update supports learners preparing for the summer 2025 session, a period for which provisional entry figures indicate sustained interest in core subjects. By including exam board details within its search tools, TutorExtra helps minimise mismatches, particularly in regions like Wales, where WJEC remains the predominant choice.

“Parents often worry about syllabus specifics, so our exam board database puts the right tutor at their fingertips,” said a TutorExtra spokesperson.

Since launching in 2018, TutorExtra has expanded to host thousands of tutors and operates without commission fees, creating a well-established network for exam support across the UK.
